Areia Branca Lodge is situated on a pristine beach with the crystal clear waters of the Indian ocean. It is 485km north of Maputo, Mozambique, and access is on tarred roads until the last 7km leading to the lodge, which is gravel and sea sand, and where a 4x4 or 2x4 with diff lock is needed.

Areai Branca is a secluded un-spoilt beach bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other. The warm waters offer safe bathing and smooth and easy boat launching. Fishing grounds and diving reefs are nearby and the largely unexplored reefs offer endless pleasures for divers and snorklers. The self-catering lodge is nestled amongst the coconut groves and has a wonderful beach.

Areia Branca Lodge offers multiple forms of self-catering accommodation, depending on your needs and budget.

Chalets sleep 4, and are fully equipped with the necessary facilities (excluding towels). Each chalet has 2 bedrooms (one with double bed and one with 2 single beds), a shower and toilet, and an open plan kitchen/living area, where another 2 people can be accommodated at no extra charge. Electricity is supplied 24 hours by EDM with a back-up generator. Chalets are serviced each morning.

Roman House accommodates 8 guests and overlooks the Indian Ocean. This cottage includes 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms (one on suite), a large open plan kitchen/living room which has a sleeper-coach, and a huge veranda overlooking the sea - which is a mere 100 meters from the house.

Executive Camping and normal Camping is available for 6, in sleeper units unfurnished and unequipped.

White Sands Lodge is situated next to Areia Branca. The self-catering chalets that make up this lodge are at the end of the peninsula, near the opening to the Inhambane Bay and a 4x4 or 2x4 with diff lock is needed to get to them. At spring high tide, access is only possible along the beach.

The lodge is sub-divided into 2 6-sleeper and 2 8-sleeper chaletss. In each unit there is one bedroom downstairs with a double bed and all single beds upstairs in an open plan area.

White Sands facilities include basic cooking utensils, gas stove and fridge/freezer, as well as bedding and mosquito nets.

Areai Branca is self-catering. A fully equipped communal kitchen area is available in addition to kitchen areas in individual chalets.

The tropical climate of Mozambiqie has two seasons - dry and wet.

The wet season is from October to March and the dry season lasts from April to November. Temperatures range from 20C in July to 29C in January. Mangroves and coconut palms are common along the coast. The temperature range between day and night is not extreme.

Summer can be very hot although not too humid due to a generally low rainfall. Winter is very pleasant and a light jersey may be required in the evenings. The winter days are also a lot shorter. Sea temperatures vary between 22C in winter to 29C in summer.

Rates vary depending on low, high and peak season. An additional 2 persons may stay in the Areia Branca 4-sleeper units at no extra cost.
