Summary

Boulders Beach Lodge and Restaurant is situated just 70 meters from the world famous Boulders Beach African Penguin Colony - one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Cape Town area.

The luxury Lodge is situated en route to Cape Point from Cape Town and overlooks the unspoilt and sheltered beauty of Boulders Beach. The Boulders Coastal Park, which forms part of the Table Mountain National Park, is one of the few sites where the vulnerable African Penguin can be observed at close range.

In fact, the African penguin colony remains the prime attraction for Boulders Beach Lodge guests. The penguins are plentiful and have adapted to a co-existance with humans thus enabling you to observe them in their natural enviroment. The penguins can also be found walking around the lodge and restaurant.

If you are seeking spectacular views, peace, tranquility in a unique and different surrounding then the Boulders Beach Lodge is the hideaway that you are looking for.

This well established Lodge caters for leisure travellers wanting to experience true South African hospitality in this peaceful haven while exploring this beautiful part of the world. You will feel at home in a friendly and charming atmosphere which offers consistently outstanding service. Accommodation is on a bed & breakfast basis, and Boulders Beach's trendy, upmarket brasserie restaurant offers the highest standard of Pacific-Rim-Cuisine.

The Lodge also has a delightful penguin themed curio shop, and is an ideal venue for weddings and other functions.

Food

Boulders Beach Lodge shares its premises with Boulders Beach Restaurant, with its covered deck and stunning beachfront views.

From humble beginnings, and after a period of being one of Simon's Town's best kept secrets, Boulders Beach Restaurant has grown to be recognised as one of the top restaurants in the area. The menu features Pacific Rim Cuisine, by Australian Head Chef Sean Kiely, which he studied during his extensive travels through Asia and across the globe.

The entire menu is revised every three months. A few subtle changes are made and invariably a number of new dishes are introduced, which portray passion perfectly through flavour and presentation. Complementing the menu are various specials that change on a daily basis, an extensive wine selection chosen by a sophisticated palate and an earthly comfort that won't be ingored.

Obviously the Boulders Beach Restaurant with its sea food speciality is recommended but for anyone eating out there are also other fantastic restaurants in the surrounding area of Boulders Bay for your culinary pleasure.

Environment Info

They say that Cape Town is a weather-obsessed city and being near the tip of the African continent, weather can change pretty rapidly and dramatically.

However the warm dry summers and moderate, moist Winters will no doubt pleasantly surprise you. Average Summer day temperatures are in the high twenties (Celsius) and average Winter temperatures are in the upper teens. Summer can see the infamous South-Easter wind transform an otherwise beautiful day. In Winter the crisp cool days can be altered by the North-Westerly wind which dumps much needed rain upon the Cape.

The "secret season" in the Cape is Autumn (May - June) - although it is not quite so secret anymore. With warm days, minimal wind and fewer tourists it really is a fabulous time to visit.

Activities

Boulders Beach Lodge with its beachfront setting makes it the ideal base for watersport lovers and anyone who enjoys the sand and surf. Interaction with penguins is a popular activity, as is fine dining at the Boulders Bay Restaurant.

There are innumerable other activities and attractions in the area, including whale watching, Cape Town's various cultural and historical attractions, nature walks, hiking trails, wine tours and so much more.
