Summary

Milkwood Lodge offers 4-star bed & breakfast accommodation in the Western Cape, South Africa, and is situated at the foot of the Fernkloof Nature Reserve – a fynbos paradise for nature lovers and hikers. The Lodge is only 300 metres from Voëlklip and the famous “Blue Flag” Grotto Beach and sea front cliff path with stunning views across Walker Bay.

Stellenbosch and Franschoek are approximately 100 km away, and Cape Town a mere 140 kms away from the Lodge. Milkwood Lodge is ideal to use as a base to visit surrounding areas and Hermanus offers lovely beaches, shops, galleries and restaurants.

Milkwood Lodge offers 2 different types of accommodation, as the lodge caters for all - single persons, couples and families :

Garden Suites and Family Room:

  • Spacious en suite double or twin bedrooms, with sea or mountain views, with private entrances and patios ensuring comfort and privacy.

Luxury one bedroom Cottage (sleeps 2 - 4):

  • Spacious lounge/dining area.
  • The cottage has fully equipped kitchen - although breakfast is included in the daily rate.
  • Double bedroom with en suite bathroom.
  • The en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower and there is a separate guest loo.
  • Two single day couches in the lounge cater for two more persons.

Food

Milkwood Lodge provides bed & breakfast accommodation. We offer full English and Continental breakfast and cater for Vegetarian, Halaal and any other dietary requirements on request.

Self-catering rates are also available on request, and the lodge features a Braai/BBQ area that guests are welcome to use.

Environment Info

Hermanus is a fashionable, affluent town with historic buildings, craft markets and excellent restaurants.

Walker Bay is one of the best spots on the Southern Cape Coast for whale-watching. The Old Harbour Museum is where programmes on whales are presented; and a "whale-listening sonar buoy" enables visitors to hear the sounds produced by whales offshore while watching their behavior through a window.

Activities

Activities on the Lodge's premises, and in the immediate area include:

  • Relaxing in the garden.
  • Great whale and dolphin watching from the cliff-path.
  • A 300 metre walk to Grotto Beach and other smaller scenic beaches.
  • Various mountain trails in Fernkloof Nature Reserve.
  • Lodge is situated in quiet and peaceful Voëlklip just outside the busy town centre.
  • Hermanus Golf course (3,5 km) and Arabella Golf Estate (22 km away).


For the young at heart there are various activities available in Hermanus such as horseriding, sea kayaking, absailing, sunset lagoon cruises followed by evening barbeques, motorboats, canoes and paddle skis. Bicycles are also available for rental. Nearby Gansbaai offers Great White Shark Excursions and at Betty’s Bay you can view penguins.
