Palm Dune Beach Lodge is a rare find on the sought after northern Coast of KwaZulu-Natal and is less than half an hour's drive from the King Shaka International Airport en route to the rich diversity of Zululand's Big Five game reserves and the St Lucia Wetland Park World Heritage Site.

Palm dune boasts 44 en-suite, air conditioned rooms.

We have two sparkling swimming pools, a fully catered restaurant & bar overlooking the ocean, as well as a private tropical decked boma area for intimate weddings, braais and dinners.

The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed with service to rooms, to the beach or in the lounge, bar or pool area.

Palm Dune's dining room is elevated, providing stunning views over the ocean and seats up to 80 people in comfort. A small lounge area with a fireplace provides the ideal place to enjoy a cognac, cigar and good conversation. For more social evenings there is a fully stocked and serviced bar. A large deck extends from the dining room open to the atmosphere of the warm Indian Ocean. The deck is equipped with a traditional braai and spit roast facility and seats a further 60 people.

Accommodation at Palm Dune Beach Lodge is catered, and includes breakfast, dinner and breakfast, or all meals depending on which accommodation option you choose.

The beach is pristine and mostly uninhabited, providing the energetic hiker boundless opportunities to explore. The low continental shelf makes for ideal bathing with a protected swimming beach a short distance from the main lodge. Please note that the area directly in front of the lodge is not protected.

Between the seashore and the dunes is a wide beach area ideal for games such as volleyball and cricket. Marquees are erected here for private functions and weddings and guests can relax on deck chairs on the sand and enjoy service from the kitchen and bar.

The region is blessed with an all round summer, which places no limits on the traveler's timing.

The Lodge is nestled between two estuaries, which creates a beautiful protected bay from where dolphin and whale watching excursions are launched. The southern estuary is a heritage site of significant conservation importance, being a breeding place for the rare Redwinged Pratincole.

For the golfer, Palm Dune is central to six top-class courses within a 25-kilometer radius, with a host of other activities that can be conducted at or in the immediate environs of the Lodge.

There is excellent fishing, both from the shore as well as deep sea. Jet-ski fishing was born here, where the protected bay allows for easy launching (recognised launch site) and access. There is also a designated beach area for jet skiing.

Activities that can be offered at the Lodge include dolphin and whale watching excursions, river kayaking, beach volley ball, cricket and rugby, movies on the big screen, Seafood Extravaganza Dinner presented either on the beach or on the deck overlooking the sea, traditional Braai Dinner presented either on the beach or on the deck overlooking the sea, and sundowners on the beach.

Palm Dune Beach Lodge is perfectly suited for conferences and teambuilding workshops and being on the beach as well as adjacent to a nature reserve provides many opportunities for activities to support the conference objectives.

The auditorium has theatre style seating for 47, with a large screen and surround sound for movie screenings and presentations. The standard room presentation includes a separate u-shape conference setup for 16 people.
