Summary

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa recently appeared on the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine list of the 80 best new hotels in the world. We're now looking forward to making the list for established hotels, and judging by the comments of our guests - the people we really want to be judged by - we're well on the way there.

This luxury 5-star boutique hotel is ideally positioned to explore the attractions of the Western Cape Peninsula of South Africa, specially the Mother City, Cape Town.

Accommodation

When choosing one of our 55 deluxe guest rooms and 15 luxurious suites, the hardest part is deciding whether to overlook the mountains or the sea. Whichever direction you face, the views are stunning.

Interior decor is just as appealing. Our light, airy, and peaceful rooms are an eclectic mix of contemporary African style, classic European comfort and effortless, up-to-the-minute technology. Cool colours and rich fabrics bring elegance and wilderness serenity. At The Twelve Apostles, you want for nothing: every room includes 24-hour room service, individual air conditioning, entertainment centres with DVD, and plush bathrobes and slippers.

When asked for their memories of The Twelve Apostles, guests are hard-pressed to choose between the magic of the glorious Atlantic sunsets or the kindness of our staff. Luckily, the two go hand-in-hand. While you watch the sunset from a striped terrace lounger, we'll be at your side with cocktails, cool drinks, or tasty snacks. Whatever you want, we'll arrange it for you. That's how life is at the Twelve Apostles.

From the complimentary drink that awaits your arrival to the free transfers to Camps Bay and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, from 08h00 to 20h00 you always feel at home. Your stay includes a full South African breakfast and use of the Sanctuary Spa, (voted best spa resort in Africa) which boasts of hydrotherapy pools, a sauna and flotation tank.

And when the day's over, you retire to a room or suite of elegant luxury. Each one is unique; each is decorated in relaxed, soothing colours for airy, daytime coolness and cosy, night-time intimacy.

Children love the Twelve Apostles too. As do our guests' pets. Young or old, two-legged or four-legged, we make a fuss of everyone. Nothing is too much trouble - we'll even rustle up a bowl of popcorn or other treats for you to enjoy in our private 16-seater cinema.

Food

If ever a location and its 5-star cuisine were in harmony, it's here at The Twelve Apostles. With stunning national park scenery and inventive Cape fusion cuisine, The Twelve Apostles Hotels invites diners to immerse themselves in the Cape experience.

You can choose to dine in the Azure restaurant with its magnificent sea views of the Atlantic Ocean, which has just received the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs Blazon award, given to professional members such as an owner, manager or executive chef of a dining or hotel establishment maintaining a superb level of cuisine, service and hospitality, as required by the exacting standards of the Chaine internationally.

Our Head Chef, Roberto de Carvalho and his team, famous for their fynbos menu, will infuse your taste buds with organic ingredients chosen daily from our own herb garden and the local markets, depending on the season.

For lighter fare try the Cafe which is open 24 hours a day, and has a choice of delicious fresh salads, light snacks, grilled meat and fish. If you have your own personal favourite dish, all you have to do is ask!

For breathtaking sundowners head to the Leopard Room bar. Our head barman keeps 72 types of vodka and 46 ports and will create cocktails using your own favourite ingredients, or you can have Tea by the Sea with all the trimmings, an event of such magnificence that it's become a local tradition.

For a really unique experience, join us for a Dinner and Movie evening. Dine in our stunning Azure Restaurant followed by an intimate viewing of a classic film at our private cinema.

Activities

The Twelve Apostles is the luxurious get-away-from-it-all location that was recently named Leading Spa Resort in Africa. Here, you can be as active as you like - hiking through the mountain trails, working out in our fitness room, learning to dive, or finding serene peace in our Sanctuary Spa. There's not much you can't do at The Twelve Apostles to increase your fitness, raise your spirits, or soothe away your stress.

For those who like the outdoor life, there's a heated infinity pool overlooking the ocean and a smaller secluded rock pool with mountain views. You can jog through park trails, settle into one of our many idyllic garden hammocks, swim or relax on nearby golden beaches, play golf, go fishing, or explore ancient shipwrecks.

If you prefer something a little quieter, our Sanctuary Spa is a magical (grotto) oasis of tranquillity cut into the surrounding rocks. Inside you'll find hot and cold plunge pools, Cape Town's only Rasul chamber, a sauna and a hydrotherapy bath. In our seven treatment rooms, we can pamper you with a range of treatments including many based on the indigenous fynbos flora. Or you can opt for a secluded open-air treatment in a shady gazebo.

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa stands at the edge of the world. On one side, a line of majestic mountains - The Twelve Apostles - reaches towards the heavens; on the other, the sun sets on breeching whales, playful dolphins, and crashing Atlantic rollers. And all around, you can walk the wilderness trails of the Table Mountain National Park. We'll even pack you a picnic.

And yet this luxury 5-star boutique hotel is just a few minutes from worldly, cosmopolitan Cape Town. City-centre theatres and art galleries, plus the shops and restaurants of the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront are only 15 minutes away via our complimentary car transfer service - quicker still if you use our helipad.

Nearest of all is the elegant area of Camps Bay with its beautiful golden beaches. Or, if you prefer adventure to sun-soaked relaxation, we can arrange sea fishing, shark and scuba diving, or whale watching trips.

Further afield are the Cape Winelands (private tours by arrangement), notably the town of Hermanus where you can visit one of SA's leading boutique vineyards, Bouchard Finlayson, see whales from the shore and, beyond that, the ancient tip of Africa where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet.
