Fordoun Hotel, Spa and Restaurant offers a 5-star leisure experience in the green pastures of a successful Nottingham Road dairy farm, in the popular KwaZulu Natal Midlands region of South Africa - just 90 minutes from Durban and 4 hours from Johannesburg.

Original 19th Century farm buildings have been painstakingly adapted into the atmospheric and gracious Fordoun Spa, Hotel and Restaurant, in a fusing of state-of-the-art leisure and spa facilities with the timeless tranquillity of by-gone days.

Fordoun combines the attractions of an award-winning upmarket boutique hotel and spa with a top class conference, wedding and event destination and a superior restaurant. Fordoun caters for resident guests of the hotel as well as day visitors during the week at the Spa. Skye Restaurant is open to the guests through out the week and weekend; however booking is essential.

The hotel comprises seventeen luxurious, individually appointed double suites with private verandas, underfloor heating and dream bathrooms, each with bath and shower, and a dressing area.

Each room has its own television, and tea/coffee-making facilities. There is also a double suite with wheelchair access and specially adapted bathroom.

Despite its luxurious atmosphere, and emphasis on quality, Fordoun’s rates are surprisingly competitive in relation to similar hydros elsewhere.

Skye Restaurant at Fordoun serves modern classical cuisine using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible from our surrounding farms. Your Chef Graham Neilson draws inspiration from his time spent working in the U.K., the United States, Bermuda and back home in Durban. He looks to blend Midlands comfort food with a healthy approach to compliment the Fordoun experience. He encourages you to relax and feel at home but above all enjoy your meal!

Fordoun is located in the rolling grasslands of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, where the air is crystal-clear and smog and traffic are echoes of another lifestyle.

Guests can enjoy gentle walks around the grounds, visit the herb garden of Dr Ndlovu, or ride on mountain bikes along designated routes through the Fordoun estate.

Fly-fishing is available on three still waters on Fordoun, or, in season, in the pristine waters of the nearby Bushman’s or Mooi River. Golf is available at the magnificent Bosch Hoek course or the new Gowrie course which are both a few minutes away.

Fordoun Spa boasts a team of experts that include skilled masseurs, Reiki and Bio-energy specialists, a traditional African Healer and highly trained aestheticians. The spa features internationally acclaimed treatments such as the rasul (a Turkish steam and clay treatment room), a saline Flotation pool, heated swimming pool, a gymnasium, sauna, steam room, vichy shower, hydrotherapy room, and a couples’ treatment suite with hydrotherapy bath.
