Environment Info

Zululand Rhino Reserve, where Bayete Zulu Game Lodge is located is considered to be one of the most densely stocked and ecologically balanced in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve consists of a varied landscape of mountains, open plains and dense riverine woodlands. The diversity of its flora and high carrying capacity make this an animal Eden, ensuring guests that regardless of weather or circumstance they will always enjoy excellent game viewing with interesting drives and walks.

Activities

Day & NIght Game Drives: As Bayete Zulu is one of the most densely stocked reserves in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, a drive with one of the knowledgable field drivers is guarenteed to be an adventure. Come watch the hippos wallow, while their babies ride on their backs. Tea, coffee and rusks are served before the morning game drive.

Elephant Interaction: Meet the magestic "Rambo"- Bayete Zulu's bull elephant, who was rescued after his herd was culled. Come and view these majestic creatures and interact with them. Experience the thrill and privelege of getting up close to the bull elephant and be educated about the plight of the mighty African Elephant.

Rhino Interaction and Tracking: You may meet Princess Kwezi on your game drive, raised by the famous Karen Trendler at her rehab centre in Gauteng following her separation from her mother during the 2003 KwaZulu-Natal drought then successfully re-introduced to the reserve in 2005. You will also head out on foot with your knowledgable guide as he shows you how to track Rhinos the way the indigenous bushman did many, many moons ago.

Bird Watching: Enjoy an early bird tea and coffee before setting off for a short drive to a magical forest of fever trees, where you will surrounded by nature's finest birds and animals.

Guided Walks: An experienced Bayete Zulu guide will have the pleasure of accompanying you on a tour of the reserve.

Pumba Club: Equipped with jungle gyms, slides, seesaws, trampoline, swings, tree house, kids DVDs, TV, Sony Playstation and other games so you can rest while your kids entertain themselves! What a pleasure.

Jacuzzi: Emulate the hippos while you wallow with a glass of champagne in the warm waters pumped freshly from underground lakes hundreds of meters below the earth.

Bush Dinners:Get spoilt with an evening of cullinary delight, parafin lamps hanging in the trees above you, dulling the stars with a smoky haze while you eat listening to the sounds of jackals calling and bushbuck barking.

Other Zululand Activities: Scuba diving, deep sea fishing, whale watching, turtle tours, swimming with the dolphins, charter flights, St Lucia lake cruises, mountain biking, horse riding and Zulu village excursions are just a few activities that can be easily arranged for you by the Bayete Zulu staff.

Conference Facilities

The Bayete Zulu Game Lodge includes an Indaba Centre that can accommodate groups of up to sixteen. Set away from the lodge, venue facilities include flip boards and white boards. Bring your laptop, plug it in and you are in your office - but what an office!

With one wall under a retractable cover, move the cover and you are exposed to a sun deck with a view facing the Lebombo Mountains. If it's hot, drop the cover with its see-through panel, and flick on the aircon. This is the perfect environment for everyone.

Catering: The Lodge can offer outdoor catering on the sun deck or you may also opt for formal dining in the Melting Pot Restaurant.

Available upon request are message facilities, faxing and photocopying.
