Summary

Chobe Safari Lodge is situated in Kasane, Botswana on the banks of Chobe River and sharing a border with Chobe National Park. Right on our doorstep four African countries meet (Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia), Chobe Safari Lodge therefore offers an excellent getaway location to Chobe, Victoria Falls or Caprivi.

Along with many species of big game, Chobe National Park boasts the largest concentration of elephant in Africa, and our game drives and boat cruises offer visitors the opportunity to witness this amazing spectacle. Due to our physical location we are also in the position to offer you a variety of other activities.

Chobe Safari Lodge has been recently renovated to offer a magical lodge experience to add to the spectacular game viewing. Accommodation options are highly varied - including everything from luxury suites to self-catering camping - and the Lodge welcomes children.

Close proximity to Victoria Falls International Airport, Livingstone International Airport and Kasane International Airport makes the lodge easily accessible, with daily road transfers or charter flights connecting all these airports with Chobe Safari Lodge.

Accommodation

Safari Rooms: The newest additions to Chobe are our 46 safari rooms. Individually decorated, they offer every comfort. Each safari room affords our guests the luxury of air-conditioning, luxurious en-suite bath and shower facilities, as well as satellite TV, and telephone. The Safari rooms enjoy expansive lawns which form the banks of the Chobe river. Each room has its own patio that gives one the privacy of enjoying views of the river from the comfort of your own room. The rooms are also in close proximity to the main complex.

River Rooms: The north east facing luxurious twin-bed river rooms are air-conditioned and offer the convenience of phone, TV and large en-suite bathrooms. Family rooms include two twin bedrooms. Our wing of river rooms are attached to the main complex via downstairs corridor or upstairs viewing deck.

The river room complex also has its own riverside garden where guests often take time to photograph the resident monkeys and mongoose. Both our upstairs and downstairs units also enjoy their own private patios.

Rondavels: One of Chobe Safari Lodges original accommodation types, the trditional thatched rondavels are independently positioned, with ceiling fans and en-suite bathrooms. These detached units are positioned close to the river in the lodge gardens.

The rondavels are positioned to the west of the main complex and are also a very short walk to the main complex

Camping: The famous Chobe Safari lodge campsite offers individual sites scattered amongst the riverine forest close to the Chobe River. Each site has its own power point and is close to one of the modern ablution facilities.

Food

Chobe Safari Lodge's new concept restaurant, features indigenous and rich flavors of Africa. Choice of English or Continental Breakfast is available. Light lunch: a la carte menu or buffet lunch to choose from daily. Scrumptious buffet dinners offer wide variety of meals from exotic game meats, roasts, barbecues, stir-fries, Indian cuisine, or vegetarian dishes.

In addition, two bars are located on the property, giving guests a choice between Sedudu Bar which is famous for the most beautiful sunsets, or Cocktail Bar overlooking Caprivi flood plains.

For that extra special experience, why not enjoy a Dinner Cruise? Dine under the stars on board of our boats Fish Eagle II or Kingfisher II and turn your evening meal into an unforgetable occasion.

Enjoy a succulent buffet dinner consisting of starters, main courses and desserts while the boat cruises on Chobe River between the shores of Botswana and Namibia. Sip your wine while listening to hippos and other sounds of African nature. Indulge in rich flavors of local and internationally influenced cuisine. This is the ideal opportunity to unwind and enjoy the unique surroundings of Chobe by night.

Environment Info

On Botswana's far northern border lie the Kwando, Linyanti and Chobe River systems, which form a mosaic of lakes, islands, channels, and floodplains. Part of this system is the Chobe National Park, renowned for its vast herds of elephant and buffalo.

Activities

Game Drives: Game drives within the Chobe National Park offer the opportunity to view the abundant elephant and other big game species up close, and also the possibility of an encounter with one of the large predators. Game drives depart three times a day (approximately 3 hour duration). Alternatively there is an option of booking a full or half-day drive with a picnic lunch.

Boat Cruises: Chobe River cruises have to be one of the finest game viewing experiences in Africa. With over 80 000 elephant in the park alone they are a very frequent sighting. Hippo, water birds, buffalo, crocodile and puku are also viewed from the river. Private cruises, led by our expert guides are available throughout the day to suit your individual needs.

Fishing: Fishing for the legendary Tigerfish and several species of Bream not only provides an exciting fishing experience, but excellent game viewing (crocodile, hippo, elephant, buffalo) and birding as well. Equipment is provided, and a knowledgeable guide is on hand for all expeditions. Fishing is done by boat positioned near banks and mid-river rocks. Equipment provided. Victoria Falls Day Trip: We offer full day trips to Victoria Falls - a World Heritage Site and Natural Wonder of the World, with the largest curtain of falling water on the planet. Our guests can choose from a guided option, a day trip including activities, or just a simple transfer there and back.
