Summary
Esikhotheni Lodge is a 4-star fully catered lodge in Esikhotheni, a privately owned game reserve in South Africa. The area forms part of the undiscovered Pongola Game Reserve in Northern KwaZulu Natal, also known as the Elephant Coast, or more familiarly, Zululand.
Bordering on the magnificent Jozini Lake brings a different dimension to the regular activities offered by game lodges, as guests are afforded the opportunity to try their hand at Tigerfishing or even just enjoying a lazy boat cruise on the lake.
The area is also a bird watcher's paradise, with over 300 species sighted in the entire Pongola Game Reserve. Other activities offered include traditional game drives, guided walks, Rhino tracking, game viewing quad rides and horseback trails, making Esikhotheni the ultimate in KZN wildlife accommodation.
Accommodation
Esikhotheni (pronounced "ss-khot-tehn") is Zulu for "in-the-sticks." However, Esikhotheni Lodge is by no means primitive and untamed as the name would suggest.
Comfortable yet elegant without being fussy, Esikhotheni Lodge celebrates tranquil charm, surrounded by untouched African bush, on a stunning hilltop location overlooking the shimmering Jozini Lake.
Superior accommodation is offered in 7 en-suite holiday chalets. Positioned for optimum privacy all have private patios with magnificent magnificent views. The bathrooms are very spacious with large showers and raised oval baths with clear views of the lake. The honeymoon accommodation suite is designed with the more romantic guest in mind, with a private Jacuzzi set on an extended deck in the bush.
The chalets all have air-conditioning, mini bar with tea & coffee making facilities; luxurious bath essences, lotions etc for your pleasure & comfort, hairdryers and electronic mini-safe for safe keeping of personal items, money etc.
Food
Your stay at Esikhotheni Lodge is fully catered, and dining at the Lodge is a wonderful indulgence!
Long lazy breakfasts, and delectably elegant dinners are the order of the day - all carefully prepared and beautifully presented by Blessed, our resident chef. Meals are either served in the traditional boma or in the lodge.
And each afternoon guests enjoy scrumptious "high-tea" - a selection of mouth watering sweet and savoury treats before embarking on the sunset game drives.
