Hlosi Game Lodge is a 5-star Eastern Cape game lodge in the Amakhala Reserve. Lying along a curve of hill above the Bushman's River plain in the Eastern Cape, our luxury game lodge is a quiet, grassland retreat offering a rich and intimate african safari experience.

The Amakhala is situated near Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, and offers "Big 5" malaria-free game viewing.

As part of the 7000-hectare Amakhala Game Reserve, Hlosi provides a rich, informative luxury safari experience for adults and children alike, as we share our enthusiasm for conservation, for food, for life. Our children safari offering includes a varied and supervised activity programme.

Sleeping a maximum of 12 adults, Hlosi may also be booked exclusively as a private venue for small team-building and wedding functions. Hlosi also offers a wonderful small conference venue for Eastern Cape businesses.

This intimate lodge re-defines exclusivity with four individually styled double/ twin suites designed to capture the spirit of a bygone era, while providing the luxuries of contemporary lodge living. In addition, we've just added two luxurious 2-bedroom suites to the Lodge, to better cater for families and friends travelling together.

Ranged along the curve of a hill, each room has its own viewing deck, welcoming lounge and fireplace, and sumptuous bathroom with spa bath and a choice of inside or open-air showers. With its complementary decanter of sherry, selection of classic reads available in each room, and superior linen and beds, each suite is designed to create a private haven from which to enjoy the quiet beauty of the surrounding bush.

• Family-sized hot tub on the deck outside the suites
• Fully stackable doors opening onto private viewing deck
• Loads of space for the family to stretch out and unwind, without compromising on style and luxury.

Communal facilities at the Lodge include:

The main lodge comprises of an entrance rondavel, leading to a spacious dining room allowing for both intimate and group dining, and a large lounge and library area leading onto a bar.

Double-sided fireplaces are always a place of contemplation in winter, while the shady verandah overlooking the waterhole, and the refreshing pool keep guests cool and entertained during summer.

For our younger guests we also have a private lounge offering television, dvd player, games and books.

The central lodge is surrounded on all sides by shady verandahs offering guests a variety of views out over the tranquil landscape, as well as over the swimming pool and pool deck.

A separate area known as a "boma" adjoins the main lodge where bush braais and special festivities are offered for our guests enjoyment.

Accommodation at Hlosi Game Lodge is on a full-board basis, including all your meals.

Mealtimes at Hlosi are an occasion in themselves. A blend of traditional African and Contemporary cuisines are on offer and produced at the highest quality and standards. Only the freshest ingredients are used. Each meal is a real celebration of what the region has to offer, and we cater for special dietary requirements with prior notice.

Coffee, tea, fresh juice and pastries are served before each game drive in addition to any snacks provided on the drive itself.

Private dinners are available on request and served either next to the fireplace or on the verandah of your suite, or in the bush. We offer a beautiful, indulgent evening with sparkling wine, flowers, and lots of candles in the suite - the ideal getaway for a romantic celebration.

Activities included in Lodge rates include:

• Morning and evening guided safaris in an open 4x4 Land Rover (with spotlight)
• African tribal dancing
• Unique bush breakfasts, dinners and picnics.

Game species that may be viewed include:

White rhino, black rhino, cape buffalo, elephant, cheetah, cerval, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra and over 12 species of antelope.

We're glad to arrange additional activities for guests as required. For example, the following activities can all be arranged at a nominal additional fee:

• Bush walks and bird watching
• Canoeing on the Bushmans River
• Environmental day excursions e.g. whale watching, Addo Elephant National Park, Woody Cape Reserve
• Historical / cultural day trips.

Hlosi Game Lodge offers a wonderful small conference venue for Eastern Cape businesses. Internet access is available.
