From the comfort of our specially equipped open Land Rovers, you encounter the impressive BIG 5 roaming freely on the Sidbury plains. Here the white rhino, monarchs of the African bush roam the plains as freely as they did hundred of years ago. Delight in the entertaining squabbles and games of the playful Vervet monkeys or Chacma baboons, the original comedians of the wild! Indulge your fascination as you stumble upon a family of warthog, digging for roots or speeding across the lains with their trademark ?tails held high?. You?ll be awestruck by our zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, and many of the common and rare antelope who have roamed these plains for centuries. From the delicate solitary Blue duiker, who melts out of the brush at the edge of a clearing, to the towering kudu bull, who fixes his gaze on you as he browses nearby. At night the porcupine, aardwolf,caracal, and other nocturnal explorers and predators patrol the silent, inky darkness.

With over 250 different species of birds to serenade you, the Kwantu bush is an orchestra of sounds, colour and form that even the novice bird lover will marvel at... From the gorgeous Narina Trogon, to the loved loerie. From the regal Kingfishers, to the evening owl. Sunbirds, eagles, the kites, and water fowl. You cannot help but to be charmed. And with the expert knowledge of our guides; soon you marvel their intriguing and often quirky habits. The rich colours, scents and textures of the animals and birds are mirrored in the fascinating plant life at Kwantu Private Game Reserve. The vegetation represents a world of wonder - with almost 150 documented indigenous species of plants. Even the trees, thorns, grasses and shrubs have a unique story which our rangers will explain to you.

The Undisputed King of Jungle, African Lions (Panthera leo) are in the order Carnivora, and the family Felidae. Lions and other big cats such as leopards, jaguars, etc, are in the genus Panthera. African lions are sometimes nomadic and range in the area of around 1,600 square miles. The average male lion is around 1.7 to 2.5m in length, standing approximately 1.2m at the shoulder. Lions are communal animals, living in prides of around 15 to 20 individuals. Cheetahs (Acynonix jubatus) are among the worlds' fastest land animals, capable of speeds of over 100km an hour, using it's long tail for balance while running. Cheetahs roam over vast territories, and the males do not defend their areas. Cheetahs live in open country, from savannah to desert. The cheetah is reminiscent of a dog, in that its claws are not fully retractable.
