Head North from Johannesburg, and a mere 3 hour drive will bring you to Nungubane Game Lodge which lies in Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, at the heart of the spectacular Waterberg. The Waterberg, high in the Limpopo Province, is one of South Africa's last unspoilt wildernesses.

Free from malaria, with a temperate climate, Welgevonden is a leading South African private game reserve. Its 34000 hectares are home to the Big Five, including some 50 White Rhino, 16 species of antelope, a rich variety of other animals and some 250 species of birds.

Nungubane welcomes a maximum of ten guests in an atmosphere of intimate luxury. Guests are accommodated in spacious chalets, which command majestic views over the reserve from their individual decks.

Nungubane is known for the warmth of its welcome, the friendliness of its staff, and for its highly commended cuisine.

During the heat of the day, during your stay at Nungubane Game Lodge relax by the pool, or in the cool comfort of the spacious main lodge. In the evening, dine on the lodge deck or by firelight in the boma, under the stars.

Welgevonden is in the malaria-free zone of the Waterberg Region in Limpopo Province. The reserve is situated on the Waterberg Plateau and is comprised of mountainous terrain divided by deep valleys and kloofs (ravines).

Welgevonden Private Game Reserve is one of South Africa's most prestigious game reserves consisting of 36 000 hectares of pristine bushveld bordering on the renowned Marakele National Park.

Welgevonden is an International Biosphere Area. Welgevonden is committed to maintaining the diversity of plants and animals through the conservation of biological resources, development of environmentally sound economic growth and the support of research, monitoring, education and information exchange related to conservation. Vegetation within Welgevonden is classified as savannah i.e. wooded grasslands. The Savannah Biome is home to a diverse range of plant and animal life with over 5500 plants endemic to Southern Africa.
