Large beds draped with mosquito nets, sparkling wine on ice alongside a double bath filled with aromatherapy scented bubbles make this a favorite for honeymooners and the romantic at heart.

In the evening the haunting sound of the kudu horn will summon you to the fireside, to share tales of your day?s adventure and to enjoy award winning South African wines and local cuisine under a magnificent canopy of stars. Environment Info
The haunting cry of the fish eagle echoes through the rugged krantzes, and the veld grass whispers with the roaming of Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra and numerous other antelope. At Amakhala you can experience the delights of the African bushveld while on safari, bushwalk, river cruise or simply with a glass of wine from the veranda of your lodge.
Amakhala Game Reserve is a unique conservation initiative that allows animals to be re-introduced to the area where they once roamed freely and so making a contribution to the conservation of our natural heritage. The land was used to ranch sheep and cattle up to the turn of the century. The challenge has been to re-establish the original flora and fauna species to the area and to return the land to nature.
Here you will also experience the warm hospitality of the settler family descendents who run The Heritage Collection of Game lodges, and you may discover some of our little "secrets"; like the prehistoric bushman burial ground, or the site of Africa's most ancient dinosaur fossil finds.
