Accommodation

Tulu Safari Lodge

Tuli Safari Lodge provides an idyllic base from which to explore the surrounding area, with its majestic landscape, spectacular wildlife and fascinating history.

With an established team of friendly staff and just 8 individually designed suites, we offer a highly personalised stay, which can be as relaxed or exciting as you choose.

The four star lodge is situated in peaceful grounds under the shade of ancient Nyala berry trees, tucked between the banks of the Limpopo River and imposing sandstone formations. It has a charming home-from-home feel.

Each air-conditioned suite has an en-suite bathroom, double/twin beds (or family rooms) and sitting areas both in and outdoors. We have two grades of suites - which we call 4 "ele" and 5 "ele" - with our 5 "ele" suites being the more luxurious.

When you're not out in the bush, eating or sleeping, there's plenty to do within the lodge:

  • Swimming pool
  • Water hole
  • Panoramic views
  • Relaxing
  • Conservation centre
  • Curio shop.

Self-catering Bush Camps

Tuli Bush Camps - Nokalodi and Molema - are two delightful self-catering destinations, beautifully located on the banks of the Limpopo River in Tuli, Botswana. They are managed and operated by Tuli Safari Lodge.

Nokalodi provides 4 very comfortable safari tents (three twin and one family) each with en-suite bathroom & patio. Bedding, towels & bathroom amenities provided.

A massive sandstone cliff where Black Eagles nest and klipspringers abound provides a superb backdrop. A fully-equipped kitchen and boma area provide the ideal setting for relaxing, meeting friends and enjoying the beauty of the African sky. One guided game drive or walk per day is included in the rates.

Molema is a joint venture project with the local community, located on 6000ha of private land immediately to the west of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve. The campsite and chalets occupy a beautiful riverine setting, shaded by huge Leadwood and Nyala Berry trees.

Molema offers two options for accommodation:

  • 3 wooden chalets each with en-suite bathroom, veranda & braai stand, boma and fully equipped kitchen.
  • 4 camping sites each with private ablutions and braai area.

Environment Info

The Northern Tuli Game Reserve is situated in the easternmost corner of Botswana, in a unique and historically significant location where the country meets its neighbours Zimbabwe and South Africa and at the confluence of two great rivers, the Limpopo and the Shashe. It forms a key part of the proposed Greater Mapungubwe Trans Frontier Conservation Area.

Tuli is scenically very different to the rest of Botswana, with dominant basalt formations and large areas of sandstone hills and ridges, together with a network of (mostly dry) riverbeds and riverine forests as well as open grasslands and marshy areas. From vantage points on top of the rock formations, the plains of Botswana stretch away to the north.

The Reserve was created in 1964 and extends to 78000 hectares, shared between private landowners and local communities. The area is home to a diverse range of wildlife, renowned for its Tuli elephants - the largest elephant population on private land in Africa, and is recognised as an Important Bird Area with over 350 species recorded.

The Reserve is also fascinating from a historical perspective. Bushmen paintings provide a reminder of the area?s original inhabitants many thousands of years ago. Remains of ancient settlements relating to the Mapungubwe era (circa 1200-1270 AD) are dotted throughout the area, the most significant being the Motloutse Ruins which can be visited by prior arrangement. The reserve also played a role in Rhodes? southern African empire-building and witnessed several conflicts during the Boer War.

We have several standard themes that are applicable in many businesses, and will make every effort to tailor our game viewing activities to your particular requirements. Our standard themes are: managing change; the importance of communication; the importance of teamwork; the importance of planning; building & retaining market share; survival of the fittest; reducing risk; the art of presentation ? what you see is not always what you get!
