COUNTRY: South Africa
AREA: Peninsula
Summary
South Africa is truly blessed with its visually spectacular coastline. Hermanus is one of the Western Cape towns that are graced by the presence of one such magnificent section of coast, with free coastal cliff hiking trails open to all.
General
A winding trail takes you along the tops of the cliffs, revealing a symphony of waves crashing against the rocks. The sea air fills your lungs, making you feel instantly refreshed. Along the twisted pathway is lush flora, attracting a variety of bird life. There are many benches, positioned in prime locations, to best capture the view.
Sunsets are spectacular, almost surreal, with pinks, purples, blues and reds, sprawling out into the sky, catching the small clouds, and painting a breath taking spectacle.
This is proof that the best things in life are free.
There are a large number of comfortable, affordable venues to stay at, in order to get the opportunity to appreciate this natural wonder amongst other attractions in the Hermanus area - although one does not pay a red cent to enjoy the cliffs.
