The magnificent Lion's Head mountain in Cape Town, South Africa is a highly enjoyable free hike. It is a good hike for beginners and is short enough for the healthy individual to really enjoy the scenery that surrounds it.

The Lion's Head hiking trail takes about three to four hours to complete, but one can turn back at any point if tired. It is a winding path which travels around the mountain, therefore offering stunning views of Cape Town from all sides.

General

The vegetation seen during your hike on Lion's Head is unique to the area and is lush and attractive. The hike is the only way to ascend Lion's Head so it is also a great way to meet other hikers. The walk is most popular during full moon.

The top of the mountain holds opportunities for rock climbing and a good spot for paragliders.

Cape Town, Western Cape. Lion's Head mountain is beside Table Mountain, Devil's Peak and Signal Hill.
