AirVentures Hot Air Ballooning offers daily balloon flights, all year-round, overThe Cradle of Humankind, Magaliesberg, Pretoria and selected game reserves. Our flights are customised to provide fun and excitement for anyone. We cater for the romantic couple to the larger groups, as well as corporate and incentive events.

AirVentures is an accredited hot air ballooning operator. We use the latest and safest high quality equipment which is maintained to the highest safety standards. Our pilots are qualified and well-experienced, ensuring a safe and memorable flight.

Typical balloon trip:

Your adventure begins shortly before sunrise, where upon arrival at the designated launch site, tea and coffee will be served.

Watch or participate in the process of rigging the balloon and inflating it in preparation for your flight. Your journey will now begin! As you gently ascend, you can watch the magnificent sun as it rises for another day. Absorb the sights and sounds of the countryside awakening as you silently float above. The flight will last approximately one hour. Upon landing, we will celebrate your flight in true ballooning tradition with champagne and orange juice. On your return to the launch site, breakfast will be served. Each passenger will receive a commemorative flight certificate, honouring the ballooning custom that is practised worldwide.

Classic Flight:

In line with traditional balloon flights, our Classic Flight offers guests the serene beauty of floating gently over the Cradle of Humankind or the Magaliesberg, while sipping on champagne, as the pilot allows the balloon at times to drift at tree top height and at other times will ascend into the skies, offering guests a panoramic view of the beautiful African landscape below.

We have launch sites located in the Cradle of Humankind and the Magaliesberg that have been chosen for their close vicinity to the majority of lodges in the area. Alternatively, we will launch from any lodge that is more convenient to the client, providing that the lodge has adequate space for the launching of passenger balloons.

The entire experience will take 2 - 3 hours.

Safari Flight:

Our Safari Flight takes the Classic flight beyond traditional boundaries, and is the ultimate in game viewing experiences. Approximately 80% of our flights have sightings of at least two of the Big Five within the hour's flight. The flight launches from the heart of the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve and usually covers a large portion of the Reserve before moving into the surrounding game reserves, offering guests unique game viewing and photographic opportunities.

The Reserve is conveniently located within the world heritage site 'The Cradle of Humankind', and is an approx. 30 min drive from Joburg and 40min drive from Pretoria.

The entire experience will take 3 - 4 hours.

Don't forget:

Long pants, sturdy shoes, preferably a cap or hat and layers of casual, loose-fitting clothing, so that you may readily adjust to the temperature. Also please remember your camera or video recorder and sunblock.

Hot air ballooning is the perfect blend of adventure and romance - great for individuals, friends, couples, groups and families. We have no age limitations. Children must, however, be tall enough to see over the edge of the basket in a standing position, approximately four feet high. All passengers need to be able to stand unassisted for the duration of the flight.
