This is the perfect weekend getaway! Located just two hours out of Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa, the Breede River offers the ultimate in child friendly fun, fishing, relaxation and escapism.

Aquatrails offers Breede River Rafting, and is a company focused on providing exclusive tours to all those with a sense of adventure. Our group sizes generally remain small, so as to provide our clients with a more intimate experience and we pride ourselves on the standard of our catering - provided by the owner's wife!

On one of our FIVE-star tours, you will be in the safe hands of our qualified guides. All you have to do is turn off your cell phone, relax for the duration of the tour and have fun.

Breede River Day Trips

Only one hours drive from Cape Town, the Breede River winds its way through the winelands below the Langeberg Mountains.

The day starts when you meet us at High Africa. After fitting life jackets you will be transported to the starting point and given a safety briefing. Your vehicle can be left safely at High Africa.

It is then time to start a relaxing paddle through a picturesque landscape where the fast flowing channels and deltas of the Palmiet interchange with long dark pools and willowed banks.

The group stops along the banks of the river for a light breakfast snack to keep the hunger at bay. After the break we continue down to our lunch site. A delicious Aquatrails lunch will be served by our guiding crew. Included in the lunch will be some wines to taste. After an exceptional day of canoeing, drifting, swimming, and sunbathing, you will end up back at your vehicle.

At take out there will be hot beverages and a snack to keep you going for your ride back home.

This will be the time you say farewell to your guide team.

Breede River Overnighters

Our "overnighter" or "two nighter" on the Breede River near Worcester, caters for many levels of comfort or group size - from smaller groups of four to eight in "up market" double room accommodation, en suite , on the banks of the river, complete with swimming pool and catered food; to smaller groups (4-6) prepared to share one room, complete with shower and toilet en suite. Larger groups of fifteen or more can even be accommodated. And if you have a tent and would like a more basic, overnight river experience, we can also cater for that.

Breede River Weekend Breakaway

This is an example itinerary of how a weekend trip on the Breede River would run.

FRIDAY: You depart from Cape Town and travel via the N2 to Swellendam to arrive at our base camp by 17H00 (travelling distance from Cape Town to the base camp is 245km) On arrival guests will be welcomed by the team of guides and shown the camp facilities. Dinner will be served around the campfire at 20H00, we overnight at the base camp.

SATURDAY: After a farm style breakfast guests are shown how to pack their personal gear into dry bags. Our transport will collect the group and transfer them to the "put in" point approximately 20 km upstream from the base camp. Guests will be introduced to the river with a safety and environmental talk after which the river guides will show guests how to pack their 2-man inflatable canoes (Croc's). Once on the river the group will make its way down stream to the lunch stop. After a snooze and lunch the group will raft down stream to the overnight stop (we make camp in the bush on the riverbanks). The group will enjoy dinner and the evening under the stars on the banks of the river.

SUNDAY: The guides will prepare a full farm style breakfast. After breakfast we will pack up and make our way down stream, to the lunch stop. After lunch we make our way back to the base camp , arriving around 15H00. Once at the camp, guests can enjoy a hot shower and a change of clothes after which time guests should be ready to depart for Cape Town.
