General
In 1993 the Buffalo River was opened up for white water rafting enthusiasts. In this little corner of the Zululand region is some of the most exciting white water in South Africa. Rated the one of the top ten best in Africa by GETAWAY magazine!
Surrounded by breathtaking, unspoiled scenery, rafters are taken down grade 2,3 and 4 rapids by experienced white water guides. Portages around the bigger rapids is always an option for the faint at heart. The rafting packages are designed to allow the rafters to better their skills on the smaller rapids before tempting the bigger white water.
The Buffalo River winds itself for 19km through private game farms on the one side of the river and on the other, the Northern border of Zululand. Thus providing you with the most natural look on how Africa must have been long ago. You are assured of seeing plenty of wild life and abundant bird life.
Two man inflatable rafts are used, which give you full control. On these you can be sure to have the most exhilarating ride as you paddle yourself down the river. Your guides will paddle with you in kayaks along side the rafts explaining each rapid and guiding you through.
