COUNTRY: South Africa
AREA: Northern Cape
Summary
The San/Bushmen of South Africa call it Garieb, others call it the Orange - 2250 km of wet snake slithering to the sea. Our river rafting trip covers 55 km of one of Africa'ss longest rivers, twisting and turning its way through the Richtersveld, one of South Africa'ss most spectacular and remote areas.
Aquatrails offers Orange River Rafting, and is a company focused on providing exclusive tours to all those with a sense of adventure. Our group sizes generally remain small, so as to provide our clients with a more intimate experience and we pride ourselves on the standard of our catering - provided by the owner's wife!
On one of our FIVE-star tours, you will be in the safe hands of our qualified guides. All you have to do is turn off your cell phone, relax for the duration of the tour and have fun.
General
EXAMPLE OF THE 4 DAY ORANGE RIVER ITINERARY:
DAY 1: Guests are asked to meet at the base camp after 17H00. On arrival guests will be met by the lead guide and shown all the facilities in the camp. Dinner will be served around the campfire from 20H00 onwards. Guests relax, meet fellow river trippers and we overnight under the amazing African sky.
DAY 2: This morning we wake up with coffee/tea and rusks followed by a hearty breakfast. After breakfast guests are shown how to pack all their gear for the river trip into the rafts. After a safety/ environment speech, guides will assist guests with how to paddle and steer their rafts. Once this is done the group will set off on an unforgettable 4-day River Rafting Experience. We stop at midday on the banks of the river for a lunch prepared by the "river crew". After lunch we make our way down stream to the overnight stop on the banks of the river, with an introduction to "ENTRANCE EXAM" on the way. While the "river crew" sets up camp for the evening, guests relax with a sundowner. We then prepare snacks and dinner. After dinner guests relax around the campfire / falling asleep under the amazing African night sky.
DAY 3: A meander down twisting channels, with sufficient time to swim and relax, with a couple of surprises along the way!
DAY.4: Bask in the vastness of the Orange River, with awesome rock formations and scenery.
DAY 5: This morning we enjoy a last breakfast on the river and then make our way to the "take out" point (approximately mid-day) where the trip is met by our transport, which will transfer guests back to the base camp where the trip started.
