Wyld Ride Umko Rafting started commercial rafting on KwaZulu Natal, South Africa's the Mkomazi River, on the stretch of water between Hella Hella and Number 8 rapid, in 1999 and to date are the only experienced operators on this extreme stretch of water. All trips are under the guidance of experienced Wylde Ride River Guides - with more than 1000 injury free trips you're in the safest hands on the river so you can relax and enjoy the adventure!

We specialize in groups and corporate Team Building, tailor making your function to suit your requirements. We are able to arrange Accommodation and other Adventure activities to ensure that your escape to the bush is a memorable experience.

The Mkomazi River has its source at the top of the Drakensberg mountains and winds its way down to the Indian Ocean through the Midlands of KwaZulu Natal. At a point near Hella Hella, the Valley takes on a mix of bushveld and tropical scenery, a wilderness largely untouched by civilization.

The White Water trips start at in Richmond, where transfers are provided to the start and finish of each Section. The trips start at 8.30am and finish between 2 and 6pm (Depending on the river level). Lunch and light refreshments are provided on the river.

The Mkomazi River is easily accessible for multi-day and single day (full and half day) trips, and Wyld Ride offers both options, as well as Combo Adventure packages that combine cycling, white water rafting (seasonal), abseiling the Howick Falls and the Karkloof Canopy Tour. The Mkomazi River in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa - situated only 95km from Durban and 65km from Pietermaritzburg.

Rafters are issued with necessary equipment - paddles, lifejackets, helmets etc. All trips are led by experienced, APA registered River Guides. Meals and drinks are included. Multi-day trips also include accommodation arrangements.

All participants undergo a full safety briefing, and will be transferred to and from Wylde Ride's base of operations.

Make sure to bring suntan lotion, your swimming costume and clothing and shoes you're comfortable to get wet in.

No rafting experience is required. A basic swimming ability is useful but not essential.
